THE DERMA-ROLLER

The Derma-Roller is an incredible device which naturally increases the levels of collagen and elastin in your skin. Stretch marks, wrinkles, scars and uneven, pitted skin are all due to a lack of collagen – so by using a Derma-Roller to replace the collagen you can help your skin renew itself and repair to a cosmetic level.

The Derma-Roller is used for Collagen-Induction Therapy (CIT)—stimulating the growth of fresh collagen. As we age, the body slows down production of collagen. The collagen layer gradually diminishes, which causes the skin that rests upon it to wrinkle and sag. The Derma-Roller utilizes the science of micro-needling, and takes advantage of the body’s self-healing mechanisms. It can be performed on the skin of any part of the body, and has been shown to be effective at improving acne scars, reducing wrinkling, and rejuvenating the skin. The Derma-Roller treatment is administered by a trained ALLURE SKINCARE professional, using specially-developed sterile, stainless steel cylindrical drum hand-roller studded with fine needles of varying lengths. The needles create microscopically-small needle pricks which are so fine and thin that tissue damage is unlikely, and the skin integrity remains intact. ALLURE SKINCARE offers treatments using the Medical Derma-Roller (for deeper skin layer rejuvenation). As the roller is moved back and forth across the skin in a prescribed pattern, the needles stimulate nerves in the deeper skin layers which instigate the body’s ‘healing processes’. This healing process causes the creation and multiplication of new collagen and elastin fibers. These fibers together create a layer of new collagen cells, thickening and filling out the skin for a tighter, more youthful and uniform appearance. The number of Derma-roller treatments that are needed will vary from patient to patient. Numbing cream can be applied prior to your treatment so that the treatment is relatively painless. Immediately following a Derma-roller treatment, your skin will likely appear reddish—which generally fades to pink in a few hours. Some pinkish inflammation will likely remain for a couple of days, but will gradually return to normal. Sunscreen after your treatment will be suggested.

Derma-Roller treatments include complimentary microdermabrasion treatments and may include various cosmoceutical products which are customized to the individual patient. Currently, the Derma-roller treatment is only available at the ALLURE SKINCARE & LASER CENTER location.

How long before I see results from Derma-Roller?


The rate at which you will get results depends on what condition you are treating and how extensively your skin needs to remodel. This process of skin remodeling can continue for literally months after each Derma Roller treatment, but visibly noticeable changes can be seen within a week! Your skin naturally renews itself every months, so with a little stimulation, changes can be dramatic and fast.

Can you use a Derma-Roller on any part of your body?
